Abraham Maslow

Abraham Maslow (1908-1970) was one of the key founders of humanistic psychology, which views people as people, rather as things to be studied like rats in a laboratory. Before his work, most psychology research was medically-based and about psychiatric illnesses. Maslow studied normal, healthy people.

Maslow gained most fame from his 'Hierarchy of Prepotence' or 'Hierarchy of Needs' as it is most commonly known.
